029 A Treat From Annie & Shou

While leading Shou pulled over and we tried to have a discussion. They wanted to know if we would like some juice from a roadside stand. We didn’t want to turn a gift down and they insisted. Annie ran across the road and returned with 2 plastic bottles. Cat took a big swig and cautiously smiled approval. I tried some but we couldn’t decide just what it was. I was guessing diluted coconut milk Cat thought it was melon juice. We now believe it was sugar cane juice. The reason we wanted to post this video is to let you hear our attempt at conversation.

yeah, that’s sugar cane juice. in taiwan all (water-)melon, coconut and suagar cane juice are available on the streets. but sugar cane juice is i think the most popular. the west side of taiwan, the plain part, had, and still has, been used to grow sugar canes. and i am sure there are still many sites where you can find a sugar factory.
