KAren, The Manager & Paolo

KAren, The Manager & Paolo

The manager spoke no English. No problem, he called on Paolo to help us check in. The room was basic, the price high, $79 US. WOW! Once in the room I went to see if we could check e-mails. Cat’s brother Jeff has suffered heart failure and is in the hospital. We’re both worried, she’s almost sick and wondering if we should go home to be with them. Karen, HR Officer for White Corals, seems to be pretty much in control. She got us connected to the Internet. Paolo has only been working here for two weeks. The Manager is new to the post, he was formerly the Chef. The family reported that Jeff is holding his own. We took a dip in the salt water pool and watched the sunset. A couple of beers and the good news put us in a better mood. A faux pa ordering dinner had the staff delivering two main courses. Karen straightened it our. Then she warned us, “Don’t go over Mt. Bataan, it is dangerous.” When we asked how she hemmed and hawed then said, “NPA is in the trees there.” That did it for Cat, we will veer to the  left at Karen’s home town, Bagac, and take the more traveled albeit longer route.  The beds weren’t comfortable but sleep came easily after a day of mountain climbing in the heat.
