291 Hue City and Brian the Britt

463-night-on-the-river

After the usual maddening cycle around town looking we settled on the Huong Giang Hotel. The price is above budget but they did upgrade us to riverfront.

At dinner we met Brian, an amazing guy. Not just because he’s a traveling widower in an otherwise widows world at age 74 but also that he wears 3 bags, as he says, for health reasons. Nice guy, a Brit who now proudly lives in Australia. Good conversation and good food at a reasonable price, too.

I think we’ve been shadowing your rides for the last 2 months through Cambodia and Vietnam. We are two women from the U.S. and while riding toward Quy Nhon a man who works for Coca-Cola approached us while we were looking at our map on the side of the road. He told us about you and gave us your card. Apparently, you had been in the same area days prior.

We biked the same route as you along the coast and hosed off at the same place on the Hai Van Pass, were harrassed by the same funny women at the top of th mountain etc…We laughed seeing your pictures and remembering our own experiences in the same places.

You’re an inspiration to us!

Where are you now? We’ve made it to Vientiane, Laos via the northern route, crossing the border at Dien Bien Phu.

Good luck to you both!

You two are simply amazing. Where are you on this cool overcast day we’re enjoying in Oxnard, CA?
And, the link to Richard and Amanda is another amazing thing. Richard came to meet us at the Mexican Border when we returned from our Around the World Tour in March ’06’.
Haven’t explored all your site yet. Where do you hang your helmets when you’re back in the USSA?
