076 Lt. General Wainwright Assumes Command

Lt. General Wainwright
Lt. General Wainwright

It’s all well document in the Museum. Copies of paperwork relieving Gen. McArthur of his command and replacing him with Lt. General. Well as the say, “Rank has it’s privileges.” McArthur and his hand picked crew sailed away to Australia leaving those staying in a tough position. Wainwright and his men stood their ground as long as possible then surrendered. Most of us know the story of McArthur but did you know that Wainwright became a full fledged General and was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor after the war ended?
