Singapore's rodeo Drive

Singapore's rodeo Drive

Orchard Road is a lot like Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, CA. Every upscale product and upscale store is represented, selling overpriced trinkets. Not our kind of place but as we said earlier it also offers lots of places that we can use, like McDonald’s and Starbucks.

Also, it like most of Singapore that we’ve seen, is pristine clean. Oh, and there’s a bike shop just a block from the hotel. We pushed the bike there and left them for a tune up. The tech, Azrin, was great, knew just what we needed. Cat objected when he suggested replacing the brake pads. (She is less than technically gifted.) I tried to explain then asked him to check them and use his best judgment. Cat just doesn’t know how brakes wear, especially when flying down super steep hills like Bagiuo, Batur and Bromo to name a few. He later showed us the old pads. They were worn to the nub.

We tried to connect to the Wi-Fi at Coffee Bean& Tea. Couldn’t make our little OLD computer work but did enjoy watching a cycling club coming in, sharing stories of their ride as they sipped their coffe or tea.

Pedaling for Condo Sales

Pretty cute, eh? There are lots of signs, even booths promoting Condos and Apartments for sale or rent along Orchard. We have read that Singpore is the hardest hit country in Southeast Asia due to the economic downturn.

So, even the worldly wealthy are feeling what they say began in the street of New York, specifically Wall Street.
