Semenggoh Wildlife Centre

The best reason to visit Kuching is Semenggoh. Here they work to rehabilitate Orangutans for return back into the wild. The Orangutan is of the family of great apes and thought to be the most endangered. They estimate that by the year 2030 wild Orangutans will be extinct. Most of the 96 that currently live here were pets or penned up creatures. They roam freely and are fed, nurtured and protected. There are several females with young. The big guy is a sight to behold.

This guy stares down at the strange looking primates holding cameras and quietly watching and filming his every move. He must feel like a star that the Paparazzi have caught up with.

They know when food will be delivered and that they will be the center of attention. Many of their mannerisms are similar to the homosapiens below. Most ignore the crowd and just go about their business unaffected.
