Terraces on the Down Side

Some of the downs are in the 18% range. That’s so steep that it almost makes the brakes smoke. It has been cool all morning but dropping fast is putting us into the steaming banana belt.

A couple of guys on a scooter began to follow us. Then they rode along side me and began asking questions. Perhaps just practicing their English but they began to get on our nerves.

“Where you are from?” No problem. Then “Do you have alcohol?” Finally I began to run out of patience when the passenger asked, “Are you strong?” Were they sizing us up? I asked them not to ride so close. They drifted back then disappeared.

Once on the flat, near the beach another scooter rider began following. He was offering help in finding a hotel. We stopped for food and drink, hoping that he’d give up. Riding on, he was soon right there telling us of a Hotel he works for. Okay, we hate the Hotel hunt, maybe he can help. We ended up hating his preferred hotel so he leveled with us. They will pay him a 5% finders fee. So, he led us on down the beach suggesting several, finally finding Hotel Adirama. 

We chose an ocean front room with direct connect to Internet.
