219 The Lake Runs Dry

We’ve read of a fast boat, 6 hours, down Lake Tonle and the river all the way to Phnom Penh. Still feeling pretty weak and knowing that the first leg from here would be 146 Ks we decided that a boat ride would be an interesting way to make the distance.

The Hotel Staff called and found that the level of the lake was too low, boats have been cancelled. Not being ones to take no for an answer we hired a Tuk-Tuk and rode to the Floating Village.

An interesting ride that led to the same conclusion, the lake is too low to navigate. We confirmed that with some boat people there. They suggest that we come back in June. Sorry but we’d better be near China by then.
