057 The Palm Tree, The Good Life

Palm Tree Pals

Palm Tree Pals

There’s a bit of home here at the Palm Tree Hotel. Tony, one of the owners, is a Brit. He spends time walking around barking orders to his shipping company partner in Dubai. Dave is manager is affable and helpful. His office, generally speaking, is at the bar where they pour a refreshing beer with lime juice. The bar is second floor with a great sea breeze and view. Dave has lived with Edna for 9 years. Ron, from San Francisco is here searching for love.  His date, Rossanna, is a teacher/artist.  Staff members treat us like family. The bikes are resting on our balcony. We  enjoyed a couple of days in AC and around town.

Ships and Boats

Tony counted 28 ships at anchor today. He says they are here because it’s cheap and they’re waiting for cargo. He shakes his head and says, “Business is bad!” Well, the weather is wonderful. The breeze buffers the heat.

We took jeepnys to Subic for information. It’s strange to walk around what was once the home of the US Navy’s 7th Fleet now converted to a Duty Free shopping center. Same Military looking buildings, big billboards.
