082 The Philippines, in Retrospect

Things we wish we could have done differently, spend more time here and see some of the southern Islands. Cycled more!

Things that bothered us a bit. On our final day in Manila we had to pass through an area with several families of street people to get to a very up-scale shopping center. Many begged but the worst were the street children. One little girl had a pen and banana. She was writing on the peel. When I asked she responded, “Writing family name.” She was writing her last name over and over as if she feared she might forget it. She had a young brother with her who at only about 18 months had already learned how to beg. He was so dirty and had lesions or growths on his face and down his neck. We can’t help all so we help none. Why doesn’t the government take charge of this terrible situation?

The other was the number of guys about my (Pat’s) age with young girls on their arm. Seems to be the thing to do for old guys from Australia and the USA. Guess we can justify it by assuming that each party is getting something of value from the other? Ah well, some good comes from all things.

The BEST, as usual, THE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Onward to BRUNEI !

I now how you feel about seeing those people on the streets it always brings tears to my eyes seeing people that live on the streets all i could do was look away. One day there was this guy when i was little and he was on the road he had a very big swollen foot my mom pointed that out to me and i just looked away because it is very hard to see people like that. Also that very moment i thought to my self i fell sorry for that guy what if he had family but they could’nt do anything about it. Well what i did after that was forgot about it because i dont like felling sad.

I wish that everybody had shelter over their heads and whent back to their family after being gone for the days. Thats what everybody needs. I dont now what i would do without my family.
