093 The Proboscis Monkeys

Little Girl, Big Nose

Our next stop on the river was an area where Danny felt that we might see the Proboscis or big nosed monkeys. When we first sighted this little girl he said, “You are very lucky, if too much sun they hide, if rain they hide, today is clouds, they come out to visit.

We were treated to sightings and photos of more than 30 in this family. They scamper around in the trees jumping from branch to branch. Danny noted that their tail doesn’t grip and help them, it just hangs limp as you can see here.

Not sure whether this is a young male or older female but for sure, the tail hangs straight down.
