CA to Taipei

CA to Taipei

It  started in CA, while visiting pals Wayne & Kristina. They told of a guy staying next door who lives in Taiwan. Alan had gone to Florida but his friend Leslie gave us his e-mail address. WE reached him and made a date. We met near his apartment, at the Main Train Station. He gave us a little walking tour. This garden and bridge are part of Chang Kai Shek’s city estate.

Alan is happy to be back. He says that he gained weight and his cholesterol went through the roof while in the US. He has lived here for 4 years but visits Laguna Woods and Leslie regularly.

Alan & Nina

Alan & Nina

Alan had invited one of his former English language students, Nina to join us. We enjoyed interesting English conversation and some fabulous dumplings served steaming hot, in baskets. She called it Dim Sum, we assume that, like in San Francisco, they charge by the number of baskets.

After the feast Nina insisted that we visit the National Museum. We’d been there but didn’t go inside. She felt that we needed a closer look at Taiwanese history. What a great way to spend our final day in Taiwan.
