305 The Infamous Hanoi Hilton

We call it the Hanoi Hilton. No sign on the outside identifies it thus. Once inside it’s more about the terrible treatment the Vietnamese suffered under the French who built this place to contain and torture dissidents.

Yikes, 9 years of a war that many feel should not have been fought.

The big surprise, that thousands of US Planes were shot down. That must have included helicopters? 

There are several photos of others and some propaganda about how they were treated but the most famous guest has got to have been Lt. Commander, now Senator John McCain.

According to Dr. Ted the US pilots were almost sitting duck. Because some parts of Hanoi were off limits due to foreign embassies they mainly attacked roads and bridges. Bridges were well fortified with anti aircraft guns.
